Bonne Journée à Paris - 5 Tips for Visiting the Eiffel Tower



Is visiting the Eiffel Tower & Paris on your bucket list? If you said yes, continue reading as I share how to save time, the best time to visit, and more. Over 250,000,000 people have traveled to one of Europe's most breathtaking cities, full of architectural wonders. It's actually one of my favorite places in Europe.


Okay, so how do we have a good day (bonne journée) in Paris? Check out my top 5 tips below:

  • Book your tickets in advance: We all know that if you're going to Paris, the Eiffel Tower is a definite stop in your trip. So... why not go prepared? Booking your ticket in advance is not only a time saver, but a stress reliever as well. While everyone else (those who didn't listen to their travel agent) is waiting on line for 90 minutes or longer, you'll be thanking me as you zip through during your preferred time slot, and enjoy your trip up to the top. I highly recommend a "lift entrance ticket with access to the summit," if you want take the elevator to the top of the tower. It will help to save your energy for the descent down. However, there are other options available, if the top of the tower is not on your radar.

  • Take the stairs down: The elevator lines are no joke, as I'm sure you can imagine. Ironically, taking the stairs down (if you're able) will not only save you time, but it will offer you some great views from the different levels, and you can move at your leisure.

  • Experience the tower from top to bottom: When you're at this iconic landmark, that most will only dream about, you'll have to experience it to the fullest. So, make the most of it and enjoy every bit of each observation level (three in total roughly sitting 200, 400, and 900 feet above ground level). Be present and take in the views. Oh, and remember how I said, walking down the stairs will save you time. It takes approximately 5 minutes or so to get to each level.

  • Make sure you eat before you go: This honestly should have been the second tip, because it's important if you want to be present in the moment. Since visiting the Eiffel Tower is one of Paris' special highlights, you don't want to rush through your visit because you're "Haangry" and -- depending on how many pictures you want to take, the length of your visit can be between 3-4 hours (granted you bought your ticket in advance). Afterwards, grab something to eat from a nearby shop and picnic under the base of the tower (wink wink… lol).

  • Chasing Sunsets: If you're anything like me, then catching a beautiful sunset is just what the doctor ordered. Make it a goal to reach the second floor right before sunset, so that you can experience the views during the daylight, while being doused in the glowing warmth of the suns descent. Make sure to have your cameras at the ready to capture the Tower's amazing light show. Prior to purchasing your tickets, you can always check to see what time sunset is in order to plan it accordingly.

Paris truly is the city of lights and the tips above will help you experience it, to its fullest. Whether you are planning to pop the questions, go for your honeymoon, taking a mother daughter trip, or going for the cultural experience solo, you can't go wrong with visiting this iconic monument. It's a few blocks further away from the tower, but you'll stroll through the Trocadéro Gardens, cross over the Seine and take in picture perfect views of the Eiffel Tower.
